WTO forecasts global merchanandise trade to fall 0.2% amid tariff tensions

           The world Trade organizations on Wednesday revised sharply its global merchandise trade colume growth forecast for 2025 from a continuerd expansion it had expected when the expeted it had expected when the year  dawned tok a decliine by a  0.2% amid fears over the U,S, tariff developments .                 The volume of world merchandise trade is expected to decline by 0.2% amid fears under cdurrent conditions , which would be nearly three percentage points lower then what would have beren expected under a low tariff baseline scenarionit said , Trade could shrink even further to 1.5% in 2025 in the situation detereorates j, it said in the Global Trade Outlook and statistics , 

India trade deficit with china widens to record $99.22

                     India recorded a trade decficit of $99.2 billion with china in the 2024-2025 fiscal year ended in March, trade data showed , driven by a surge in imports of electronics goods adn consumer durables . The data nomes as U.S. presidnet Donald Trump announced a 90 days pause last week on most tariff hikes for major trading partners including India , while sharply increasing levies on Chinese goods , stoking fears that chinese firms may divert goods to others markets . 

35 lakh tonne of sugar to be diverted to make ethanol

                                                                  Total sugar expected to be diverted for ethanol production in the sugar season   2024-2025  is 35 lakh tonne against 21.5 lakh tonne in the season ended September 2024. The Indian sugar and Bio Energy Manufactures Associaton said said sugar ouput between October 2024 and April 15, 2025 was 254.97 lakh tonne and 38 38 of the 534 factories condtinued to operate . Cane availability improved in U.P and hence some factored in the state may continue to make sugar the first week of May
